The Best Teachers

I got a gift card and thank you card from my director for teacher's appreciation with this poem about the best teachers

The Best Teachers

Teachers open up young minds,

showing them the wonders of the intellect

and the miracle

of being able to think for themselves

A teacher exercises

the mental muscles of students, stretching and strengthening,

so they can make challenging decisions,

find their way in the world,

and become independent.

The best teachers and care enough

To gently push and proud students

to do their best

and fulfill their potential.

You are one of those.

Friday the 13

Some people believe that Friday the 13 is bad luck or unlucky and today is the Friday the 13 and I got unlucky, after having lunch with all my co-workers for our teachers’ appreciation at The Cheese cake Factory. AJ and I went to Valley Fair and bought a wallet for Joe as a Father’s day gift. After paying I put the wallet right away under AJ’s stroller before I could lose it then we walked around for one hour. When I started putting everything in the car, I noticed that the small bag where the wallet is wasn’t at the stroller. I was so mad at myself I couldn’t believe. It’s so painful thinking about it.

End Of The School Year

Every end of the school year our center is having a special closing program held at a church since we are Christian school. Each class prepares two songs from 2 years old class to my class the Pre-k. The graduating children wear graduation hat and other wear nicest outfits. The ceremony started by being introduced by our director. I gave a well unprepared speech not long but it was from the heart. Then I called each graduate by their first name to come up to the front. I handed each one their diploma or certificate of achievement and then the children sing their songs for the parents. We all sang “ You Are My Sun Shine” at the end of the ceremony. The parents all were snapping picture and also video taping. I was so proud of my kids. At the end of the program, we have a little party and the families all brought some dishes to share and the school provides drink. Another year past by and summer is just around the corners and we are ready for it.

Taking Shower With AJ

AJ loves to take a bath in the sink and he enjoys playing with his toys in it then he discovered that he could splash the water with his hands. He would do it every bath time now that the counter and floor get soaking wet. I decided to take him in the shower with me to see if likes it or not and last night was his first time. He really loves it more than the bath and he wasn’t scared at all. The running water didn’t bother him even when he gets water on his eyes. He watched the running water down on his hand with a big smile on his face. He sat at the back of the tub with toys and I rinsed myself then sat down with him. I used a cup to rinse him off and we played for a couple of minutes. Taking a shower with your baby is a magnificent moment and it’s a great way for bonding. Before when I have to take my shower and nobody would watch him I put his rocking chair in the bathroom floor and talk or sing to him. The sound of the running water would make him happy and stay still on his chair that I could take a good shower. Now I could get a shower without having someone to watch him

Knowing that AJ is not afraid of the water is a good sign because in 2 weeks he has a swimming lesson at the YMCA and Joe will take him. I want my AJ to learn early and develop his comfort in the water. We are excited for him and I am sure he will love the swimming pool.

Apple

AJ seems to enjoy his first apple bite. Here’s some picture that I took to share what he could do now.

Greek festival

Today we went to Greek festival which we go there every year and this time with our little one who enjoyed the crowed of people and listening to the loud music. As always there were Greek band play tradition folk tunes as well as contemporary Greek music. There was demonstration Greek folk dance performed and there were free dancing under these tunes for anyone who likes to try. I enjoyed watching them. Greek festivals sell Greek artifacts that are imported from Greece, such as souvenirs, jewelry, pottery, little statues, posters, pictures, music, etc. But for hubby the best thing to do in the Greek Festival is to eat Greek food.

AJ Got Scraped and Bruised

AJ was hurt today at the day care. A baby gate fell on him. He got scraped and bruised on his face. I felt so bad knowing my little one was on pain. I know all babies get hurts all the time no matter how safe and careful the day care and workers and this thing happens. As a preschool teacher I have witnesses a lot of little kids do get smashed and it mostly caused by another kid.
AJ’s teacher wrote an accident report explaining what happened. I know that she couldn’t prevent him from being hurt and I was confident that she cared enough to do anything she could do to prevent it. After work we went to see AJ’s doctor for check up if his ok. It was good to know that there’s nothing to worry. Im so proud of him because he still smiling as if there’s nothing bad happen to him. Here’s some picture taken in the hospital while waiting for his doctor.

Hot Weather

It’s not even summer yet but it’s definitely heating up here in California. Lots of people go to local beaches and mall hopping to cool off and Im one of them. AJ and I with some friends were hanging out at Valley Fair Mall for a couple of days now where Air Conditioner is free. I like the weather just right the kind of weather where you could go to beach. When it is cold, I say I like hot weather. If I have to choose I would probably choose cold weather so then I can cover up and stay inside. I know that on the summer you could do a lot of stuff like wearing short, flipflop, swim wear and go to beach. But there’s some thing that I don’t like about summer. The hot weathers make me feel fidget, high electricity costs, and to shine to sleep long. For AJ’s first experience with the hot weather he seems he enjoyed crawling around inside the house without clothes on two nights in the row.
I will post his pictures when I get a chance.

AJ

Play can be especial important and rewarding. When AJ started to show interests in sights and sounds I was so excited that I put a lot of coloring and squeaking toys in front of him on his car set and slowly swinging back and fort for his eyes to see. He focused and watched the toys and didn’t lose sight of the toys for a long time. He was physical active before he was 3 months old. He likes to kick his legs as if he was pedaling and before he knows it he could grab his own little feet. He loves to play toys with music or things that make noise such as rattles and plastic.

AJ seems to be happy observing other kids who crawl and walks. By observing other kid’s AJ could pull himself up now on his crib and on a table. And also he tried to stand up by himself without help or hold onto something. As a first time mom I was amazed watching him getting bigger and stronger. I considered him right on target on physical developments

How I Spent My Mother's Day

We know that a lot of restaurants will be crowded on Mother’s Day. Some people would call the restaurant and make a reservation and some would just show up. It was too late for us to make one. So, Joe and I make a plan to go to hometown buffet for brunch thought that it would be less crowded and the food would be ready when we are and that’s what we did. We went there for brunch. It was a little bit crowded and the line to get in was long. After the brunch we came home and relaxed for a while and then we went to a flea market. It was my idea to go there on mothers’ day because I have to buy an outfit for AJ’s baptismal this Sunday. We didn’t really look around because I was so tired. On the way home, I told Joe that it would be nice if I could take a nap when we get home. Joe just smiled at me. We got home and Joe took AJ out in the backyard and I was lying down on the coach and not even 10 minutes Joe called me to come out to join them. I came out and hang out, played with AJ and took pictures. And I finally went back in to take a nap and I did for 2 hours while the father and son still playing out in the backyard. I was so happy that Joe watched AJ and let me slept in. It wasn’t long enough but it was worth it.

Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and it’s going to be my first. We don’t have plans yet, but it would be nice if hubby could watch AJ so that I could sleep in because he could hardly watch AJ and let me sleep in. I am not expecting a diamond from hubby as a gift but I would love to get an expensive purse heheeheh which is impossible. Honestly, it doesn’t matter what Joe will do or give. I just want him to show me appreciation for having AJ. It sucks to feel unappreciated

A creature of habit, you prefer routines and have trouble with change.

You love being in groups - whether you're helping people or working on a project.

You are good at listening, laughing, and bringing out the best in people.

In love, you value harmony and mutual understanding.

You will apologize or give someone the benefit of the doubt, if it means getting over a fight sooner.

At work, you are good at building relationships and connecting with people.

You would make a great nurse, social worker, or teacher.

How you see yourself: Organized, dependable, co-operative

When other people don't get you, they see you as: Opinionated, critical, and know-it-all

Monterey Bay Aquarium

AJ and I went to Monterey Bay Aquarium on Saturday with some of my friends and their family. Hubby wasn’t able to go because he was busy. I have been to this place once 7years ago with hubby and we have wanted to visit again. Finally I was able to do so and this time with our Lil one AJ who is 8 months old . I know that AJ is still young to remember all this stuff but he was amazed at all the fantastic displays. As soon as we got in, we went straight to see the sea otter where AJ loved to watch them swimming around and running into each other and he loved the penguin too. There are many places for kids to learn hands-on

The Aquarium is a great place for family and friends. They makes learn about ocean so easily, they have an interactive exhibit that many would never see it and they have an amazing facility with surprise around every corner. The view on a sunny day makes this place enjoyable. We really enjoyed and had a very good time. It was worth the trip and we will definitely go back

AJ Fell Off The Bed

On Wednesday morning at 3:00 a.m. AJ woke up wanted to be played with me. So we played for an hour even though I was still sleepy and then I let him crawl and play on the bed. I was lying on the bed watching him. I didn’t realize that I fell asleep. Then, I heard the thud I knew what it was. I got up and looked for him right away. He was on the floor lying on his back. I didn’t see the fall, but he didn’t cry. He just stared at me. I picked him up and I was hysterical. I hugged and kissed him and kept saying sorry to him. I could see on his eyes that he was sleepy and ready to go back to sleep. I checked him all over before I put him to his crib and he fast asleep within a minute. There are no red spots or bumps on him anywhere. Luckily the bed is low and the floor is carpeted. I just can’t shake the guilt and shame. I feel awful. I should have been watching him not sleeping. This is one of those things I would try to avoid but it happens like my previous post about AJ who got luck in.

AJ's Development

All babies do things at different stage and meet milestones on their pace. I think my baby AJ is a little bit ahead of himself. He is a very busy and handful baby. He loves to bounce up and down before he could hold his heads up. He started rolling over at 4 months old. He could sit and lean forward to grabs and straighten himself up at the age of 6 months then at 7 months he started to crawl and now that he is almost 8 months he crawls all over the room pretty well. Sometimes he is eager to pull himself up in the crib and on the table. He stands on his own for few second and he thinks it’s funny because he would giggle and laugh when his about to fall and I catch him. He has become very interested in things above his eye level when he is on the floor he reaches things. I am very happy that he could do all this stuff in early age that sometimes I would say Yippy and oh no!

Here comes the other side of AJ. He is not a good sleeper. He wakes up 2 to 3 times a night for milk then he goes right back to sleep. It is so tiring to get up that many times throughout the night. He doesn’t have teeth yet but it will soon because he drools a lot. He is starting to get the stranger anxiety. Over all, AJ is a happy boy who likes to be played and entertained

Stress

Stress is a normal part of living. It is important to pay attention to our body to recognize signs of stress because it could cause a lot of variety of positive and negative factors. Right now, I feel that I have a lot of pain physically, emotionally and mentally. It is not surprising if I have a stress because I work full time with young children during the day which is a stressful job. On Monday night I go to school, then at home I have to take care of my family especially to my baby AJ at the same time I have to do the house work with no help at all. I am more forgetful, irritable and cranky thinking all of the things that I have to do. Can you imagine that how stressful I am?
I learned that I have to balance my work school, family and friends. I have to ask hubby to support and help me with AJ as well as house work so that I could get an adequate sleep and rest which are I really needed for a long time. Last, I have to go work out at YMCA again to burn off the chemical that I build up in my body during the stress.

How Romantic Are You?

Tag from Joy, Thanks for sharing

You are a Total Romantic

For you, love is like a fairy tale.

Or magic. Or a Meg Ryan movie.

Problem is, you sort of want all three.

You bring the spark in the relationship

In turn, you expect your guy to keep the fire burning

Not a bad deal, as long as you find the right Prince.

Buggy ride

AJ’s first time being on a buggy ride he could barely put his heads up but I could tell that it was the most exciting moment for him because he was so happy and had a big smile on his face. He kicked his legs on and on to let us know that he likes to be on the buggy ride.

The buggy has 4 sitters, so it is very helpful and useful for both teacher and children. The teacher could take 4 children in the buggy to go for a walk inside the school as well as the great outdoors. For the children, it allows them to see what’s outside their classroom and it is a safe way to introduce a new mode of transportation. The buggy itself, gives the children a safe secure comfortable ride, it has back seats that provide body support. So parent would feel comfortable when their child is on it. Im so happy to see him enjoying the ride.

AJ got Lock In

So many times we heard of babies being left in a car some are on purposed and some are on an accident. I believe that accidents do not happen but are caused. This is something that I never want to happen to me. Im always aware of my AJ being alone in the car even if it is only 5 minutes. I am more comfortable taking him with me whereever I go.

On Saturday afternoon after the b-day party I was loading some stuff in my car I put AJ in last and shut the door. As alway, I put my purse in the car with my cell phone and car keys on it. I assume that all doors are unlock but when I open the driver door it was lock and I tried all doors but it was all locked just then my mind started to think about horrible things would happen to my AJ. I was so horrified and thank good I saw Sally and Judith with Reyn were about to drive by. I waved them right away to stop then they stopped. I told them what happened. I borrowed Judith cell phones and called hubby who happened to be at home I was telling him that it was an emergency. Luckily, we lived 3 stops ligth away from the Rose Garden where the party was held I was standing in front of my car watching AJ inside the car wondering around while waiting for hubby to come. Finally he came and opened the car. I checked AJ as soon as the car opened he was ok and unharmed.

I though hubby will get mad at me but he understands that it was an accident. He just told me and asked me who to call next time when it happens again whe he is not close by. Of course I have to call 911. It was a lesson I learned the hard way. From now on I have to be careful and hope it will never happen again. Thank you very much to Judith Reyn and ate Sally for staying.

Dinner At Kazoo

Hubby decided that it’s time for us to take AJ out to some nice restaurants to see how it will go because he was afraid that AJ might cry and bother everyone in a restaurant. It’s been 7 months since AJ was born that we haven’t gone to eat at any restaurant that we used to go. Then the other night we went to Kazoo one of Joe’s favorite Japanese restaurant at downtown San Jose. AJ did a good job he didn’t cry he even sat on a high chair for the first like a really big boy and he was amazed at the place because of the nice decoration and light everywhere especially when he saw the boat floating by in front of him with food. Now we can go out anytime we want and hopefully AJ will be fine and won’t be fussy.
